Major finds of this gem were made 2012, today the locality is considered largely exhausted.

Interesting Fact:
A field of complex granitic pegmatites located south-east of Lake Baikal, about 200 km from Ulan-Ude. The pegmatites were discovered in 1980 by Russian exploration geologists.
Bounded by the Khilok River in the north and the Chikoi River in the south. The Malkhan field of complex granitic, miarole-rich pegmatites occupies an area of about 60 km2.
