Moldavite (Czech: Vltavín) is a forest green, olive green or blue greenish vitreous silica projectile rock formed by a meteorite impact in southern Germany (Nördlinger Ries Crater) that occurred about 15 million years ago. It is a type of tektite. The chemical formula of moldavite is SiO2(+Al2O3). Its properties are similar to that of other types of glass, and reported Mohs hardness varies from 5.5 to 7. Moldavite can be transparent or translucent with a mossy green color, with swirls and bubbles accentuating its mossy appearance. Moldavites can be distinguished from green glass imitations by observing their worm-like inclusions of lechatelierite.

Moldavite is a tektite, and a stone of intense frequency and high vibration. In ancient times it was thought to be a mystical stone that could bring good luck and fulfillment of wishes. These natural green crystals are powerful stones for transformation, as it is thought to be the stone known as "The Holy Grail Stone." It is an amazing crystal to create change in your life. It is one of the best stones to use for psychic protection as negative entities find it difficult to connect to your aura when you are wearing it.

All of the pieces of this crystal has been found in the Czech Republic, close to the area where this event occurred. This amazing stone was created by the heat of an extraordinary force most likely with more power than an atomic explosion. Its aero-dynamic shape suggests that in all likelihood this attractive green stone did fall from the heavens. The stones often have dark inclusions within them. It has been suggested that this may be a combination of meteoric matter and material from the area where it crashed, as the heat may have melded them together. Although some scientists believe it to be of extra-terrestrial origin, this cannot be confirmed. There is a type of this stone that comes from near the village of Besednice, and these stones are quite beautiful lacy crystals, slightly different in form that the other stones, but still with the amazing strong energy.
