This is a beautiful round shaped cabochon of Larimar (blue variety of pectolite - sodium calcium hydroxide) silver pendant from Dominican Republic. Larimar has been polished on one side, revealing a beautiful pattern of light and dark turquoise blue colors in the material with white cloud - like swirls. T
The back of stone is unpolished.

Interesting Fact: Larimar are relatively new on the gemstone market and are only found in one small corner of the world, the famed island of Hispaniola, which the Dominican Republic shares with its neighbor, Haiti.
Originally discovered in 1916, it was named by the Dominican who re-discovered it in 1974, taking the first letters of his daughter's name, Larissa, and the Spanish word for the sea, mar, to create Larimar.
