This is a very nice genuine tumbled violet blue tanzanite (Zoisite) from Merelani.
Because of its growing popularity, Tanzanite was designated as a modern birthstone for the month of December in 2002. Tanzanite is also the gem for a 24th anniversary.

Interesting Fact: Tanzanite is the Tiffany & Co. trade name for blue zoisite, named after the country of origin, Tanzania. Tanzanite has only one source: the hills of Merelani in northern Tanzania.
